Bridgestone Challenge at Heythrop Park

Heythrop Park Resort were proud hosts of The Bridgestone Challenge Tour in August 2016.
Situated in the Heart of Oxfordshire and since its completion in 2009, Heythrop Park Resort has always been considered to be one of the most fantastic layouts in the country.
In 2016, the course was chosen as a professional Challenge tour venue and this was the first time since 2012 that the Challenge Tour came to UK soil. This was an exciting opportunity not just for Heythrop Park Resort but the golfing community in Oxfordshire and beyond.
The Challenge Tour is a feeder for the full European Tour and has been used as a stepping stone for the likes of Justin Rose and Martin Kaymer. This tour was televised by Sky Sports and featured Walker Cup star Jimmy Mullen and UK Amateur Champion, Scott Gregory.
Spectators came to watch the 156 players (which are made up of the top 100 Challenge Tour players and the remaining players are made up of invites and top amateurs) compete for a prize fund of 180,000 euros. The Belgian star, Thomas Detry won by a remarkable 12 shots over South Africa's Thirston Lawrence and finished his 72 holes in a staggering 29 under par.
